What is Empower Me?

EMPOWER ME was created to support girls and gender-diverse youth in Grades 5–8 as they explore who they are, build self-confidence, and grow into compassionate, powerful leaders. The program is built on a justice-centred foundation, meaning that it is designed to reflect the diverse experiences, strengths, and challenges that youth face across lines of gender, culture, ability, race, class, and identity.

Students: Grades 5–8

Duration: 7-9 weeks

Program Learning Objectives:

  • Strengthening sense of identity and belonging

  • Building emotional literacy and practicing emotional self-regulation

  • Developing skills to communicate clearly and assert boundaries

  • Understanding and exploring digital safety and media influence

  • Practicing leadership and impactful collaboration

  • Learning to set goals and visualizing future

  • Developing compassion for onesself and others

  • Developing positive self-affirmation of body image

  • Building confidence in public speaking and creative expression

  • Celebrating one’s voice, growth, and power
